Bobby Flay was born on December 10, 1964, in New York City, New York, and he spent his boyhood on the affluent Upper East Side of Manhattan. At 17, he decided not to pursue his education and began working as a salad cook at Joe Allen Restaurant in the Theatre District of New York City.
